FTC Protects Hispanic Consumers From Online Fraud
The Federal Trade Commission has launched a Spanish-language website to protect Hispanic consumers from online fraud, according to a report by Dallas-based Diario La Estrella. Victims of fraud and identity theft may file complaints on the website, www.alertaenlinea.gov and find information on how to protect themselves against hackers. Using the motto, “Stop. Think. Click.,” the FTC will issue warnings for Spanish speakers buying gifts online. The website shows consumers how to protect their personal information from online fraud through email and websites and recommends several anti-virus and “firewall” programs.
