The time-shifted nature of podcasting is great, but it's not the only-or even the main-reason that podcasts appeal to people. Most of the radio we're subjected to these days is programmed by corporations. My daughter, for instance, has pretty much given up on radio, since she hears the same songs (pushed by the labels) over and over again.
